Empowered Wednesdays Series #1

 WELCOME TO  EMPOWERED WEDNESDAYS SERIES!

Every Wednesday We Will Profile An Empowered Person, Organization, or Video!

Mischa Toland
Founder of Greatness Now
Baltimore, Maryland

1- What is your organization name and what do you do? Greatness Now is a national human development company with a mission to help individuals own and actualize their greatness.

2- Will your organization have a positive impact on Teenage Girls? If so how? Greatness Now since its inception over 10 years ago has always served teenage girls. As a troubled teen myself and 3 time teen parent, I promised God 24 years ago when I came to the human service profession that I would spend the rest of my life helping teen girls make better choices than I did. I made a vow that the extent to which God connected me with resources and tools to improve the quality of my life, I would in turn pass those resources and tools on to teenage girls that they may be likewise empowered.

Over the last 10 years in particularly, Greatness Now has positively impacted teenage girls by way of our empowerment classes and intervention groups that we hold at various schools across the country.
We impact girls via invitations to speak at retreats, churches, girls-focused conferences.

I've been blessed to author 20 books, two of which are specifically targeted to a teenage girl audience: Sacred: 100 Affirmations for Girls and She Ain't Angry for Nothin': An Intervention and Behavior Modification Curriculum. Sacred is a special affirmation book filled with words of empowerment that I wish someone had said to me when I was losing my mind as a teenage girl.

Finally, twice a year we hold certification trainings for educators, therapist, and youth-serving practitioners who work with girls to become certified in using our curriculum as a means by which to help bring healing to hurting girls.

3- How can people participate in your organization? People can participate in Greatness Now by supporting our events. People can visit our website at www.greatnessnow.org  people can LIKE us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, watch us on YouTube, and encourage others in their network to do the same.

People can invite us to speak at their event or program, as a means by which to get the very important message of actualizing and owning one's greatness out to all the earth. People can join us now for our One Year Transformation Journey that kicked off on November 5th.

4- The Priceless Campaign is a movement that will Spread the Truth about Teenage Girls, how will this impact your community and our world? When any of us spread the truth someone is automatically made free. So in spreading the truth, The Priceless Campaign is setting teenage girls  free.

5- What is 1 Truth you wish every Teenage Girl knew? The one truth I wish every teenage girl knew, and this is a truth that I am weekly...I mean weekly drilling into my girls:

You are not defined by your bad choices, not are not defined by the bad things that happen to you, you are not defined by the lack of love your parents may not know how to give you, you are not defined by the things you may not like about yourself, you are not defined by other peoples' observation of you, you are not defined by the cliques you hang in, or the number of boys' attention you're able to get.

You are defined by what you tell yourself, how much of what you tell yourself you really believe, and and what you tell yourself shows up in your life.

Change is Scary!

This post was not checked for errors, but it was written with LOVE!

I have been thinking, made changes, but something was still missing for The Priceless Campaign. After talking to my core group, praying and asking others to pray, I have decided to change my course and it is major.

First, I am still focused on helping teenage girls reach their greatness. But how exactly I will do that will be a drastic change. I asked my supporters what they want and I listened.

The new direction will take some time to create and I am okay with the wait. It is my hope that by January 2013 we will be able to launch the new version of The Priceless Campaign, Yes, another version.

THE NEW PRICELESS CAMPAIGN NEW FOCUS

Every Quarter! One Cause. One Mission.

Every 3 Months We Will Bring A Voice, Awareness, Resources, Tools & An “I AM PRICELESS” Bracelet to 1 Cause with 1 Mission (Break the Silence).

My Vision: We will break the Silence of Sexual Abuse, Domestic Violence, Mental Health, and Grief & Loss for Teenage Girls by Spreading Awareness & Truth!

The New Site will have forums for us to talk openly about the topic for the Quarter! We will have resources, and tips to help teenage girls heal if they have gone through 1 or more of the 4 Causes.

The Site will also raise money for charities working in the area of our Cause for that Quarter.

Creating and developing this site and marketing the site will take money and I will begin a Fund Campaign some time this week. If you are interested in helping us spread the word or make a financial donation please email me Ruby@PricelessCamapign.org

I am hopeful of this new focus and scared at the same time. I am taking my fear and just trusting that God will give me the wisdom and resources to empower as many teenage girls and adults who cares,
 as possible.

YOU ARE PRICELESS!

UNEXPECTEDLY!

This post was not checked for errors, but it was written with LOVE!

I woke up today oh so thankful for a great Thanksgiving Dinner and the great memories of the fun I had at the Casillo's. I hope you had a great time at your EVENT as well.

After my thoughts of leftovers exited my mind I went and checked my emails and to my surprise my web developer uploaded the site and that was unexpected. Number 1 I was not going to take the site live until December 4th and we still have issues that must be fixed.

I had to really take a step back and think what to do and I decided to keep it up and have the changes made on Monday.

Sometimes the UNEXPECTED happens for a reason and we can either go with it and/or stop the progression. I decided to go with it.

So, you can go and checkout the site and please let me know your thoughts. All corrections will be made on Monday but I would love to know what you think NOW! http://PricelessCampaign.org

Stay tuned as The Priceless Campaign develops and move FORWARD!

You Are Priceless & So Am I!

MAJOR PROBLEMS

This post is personal and not edited. Please forgive any errors.

In order to make dreams into reality we must first be realistic.
So,change is coming to the Priceless Campaign!

I have a desire to empower teenage girls to know that, the negative words society forces on them, is not TRUTH. It is my dream that teenage girls learn and grow into their own TRUTH. Moreover I want them to know that they are Priceless, No Matter What!

When we as adults empower teenage girls by supporting, advocating, teaching, and encouraging them GREAT things happen. They begin to see their true value and they begin their journey to reach their personal GREATNESS!

That is the main reason I created The Priceless Campaign. To help adults empower teenage girls by letting them know we are here for them.

I was dreaming that 250,000 would be our goal to get 250,000 people to sign the online pledge, that would Spread the Truth about Teenage Girls. But, the movement had some major flaws.

I had the passion but I lacked the structure to push the movement forward. Just when I found out what I needed my mother became ill and I had to go on FML (Family Medical Leave) from my job and rush to the Bronx, New York.

During that time my main focus was supporting my mother and father. The Priceless Campaign was on hold.

Returning home (Pennsylvania) and looking at what I created I realized that I needed major changes for the Campaign to move forward.

First, change instead of 250,000 my first goal is 1,000. At times I can make a goal so tall the ability to reach it becomes impossible. So, once I reach the 1,000 we will go to the second, third, forth, and so on until we reach the final goal. First goal 1000 online pledges signed to Spread the Truth about Teenage Girls.

Secondly, the site was not focused as it needed to be to get the message across. So, we took the site down and we have been working hard to create a clean site that gets the message across. We will be re-launching real soon.

Thirdly, the Pledge needed some work so I reached out to some of my Facebook friends and Katrina Spigner from South Carolina helped me create a great pledge that was tested yesterday and many people LOVED IT. I hope you will love it too.

Lastly, creating a structure to build the movement. That is a constant work in progress but it is beginning.

It is my hope with the changes and hard work we can let teenage girls know that they are PRICELESS, No Matter What and in doing so change our world for the better.

By the way my mother is doing so much BETTER and I am back to work as a school social worker and loving it. Now, my focus is to build the Priceless Campaign to its full potential.

I am really lucky to have a great intern Kesha and many great supporters to help The Priceless Campaign move forward.
